A few words about us
Let us introduce ourselves
Welcome to Blackford Creek Bakery! My name is Tarren and I am a 34 year old native of Hawesville, Kentucky. I grew up in the Hawesville/Pellville area of the county, where Blackford Creek cuts through the tobacco and soy fields of what some used to call “Chambers”. I was raised by a village out there on those country roads where we played outside with our cousins, romped around the creek beds, and always had family supper.
My grandmother, Margaret Powers (Lindsey) was the matriarch of our clan, who taught me everything I know about baking old fashioned southern desserts. I grew up on biscuits and cornbread, but very quickly found my love for baking cakes and other sweet treats in my college days.
My vision for Blackford Creek bakery is to bring you the fond memories of your Mom, Grandma, or Great Grandma’s cooking, mixed with my own influences and modern twists. I look forward to providing for those in my community that I’m so fond of, as well as those beyond! Stay tuned for all there is to offer, and I hope to see you downtown ❤️

How it all came to be…
Tarren’s Grandmother was a local legend in Hancock County.
Recipes from Margaret Powers
Margaret Powers owned the Kozy Kitchen in Hawesville, Kentucky for many years. She was also known in church dinners and family get togethers for her homemade baked goods – especially her Coconut Cream and Chocolate Pies, which are still talked about to this day.
Tarren is renewing the family tradition of her Grandma’s homestyle and delicious pies and baked goods at Blackford Creek Bakery.
